ITINERARY
Please note that the itinerary below could be running in reverse or
other changes may occur due to accommodation availability or other
unforeseen circumstances.
Day
01: |
Air Botswana will carry you safely from Johannesburg
International Airport, which departs at 10:00 am every day, and
arrives at Maun Airport, on the fringe of the
Okavango Delta, at 11:40 am.
Upon arrival you will be met by your safari
guide and welcomed into Botswana. We will depart Maun for
our destination - Moremi Game Reserve - situated in
the eastern part of the Okavango Delta. This game reserve is ideally
situated for a wildlife sanctuary. It has no
fences, hence allowing unobstructed seasonal movement of game which
makes this a largely natural area. This is a paradise for birds,
game and predators alike.
Moremis scenery alone is enough reason to want to
visit this park. Completely varied vegetation makes this area very
special. Within an hours travelling it is possible to view the
first of the wildlife inhabiting this area. We will stop en-route
for a simple lunch of sandwiches and fruit, before continuing
towards our camp. Late afternoon arrival at our camp, with enough
time to settle in before having our evening meal. Afterwards we will
relax around the campfire, where your guide will
explain the safety precautions and will answer your various
questions in order to calm your understandable apprehension for the
coming days. |
Day 02:
|
Our first morning in the Wilds - it will be an early rise, with
coffee and some biscuits around the fire at first light. Early
morning departure from our camp in search of various predators (such
as lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, hyaena)
antelope (such as impala, lechwe, reedbuck, tsessebe) and other game
such as giraffe, zebra, etc and of
course also the birds that inhabit this area.
Hippos are abundant, in the streams and lagoons
that make up vast areas of the Delta. We return to camp around 10:30
for Brunch. The early part of the afternoon is spent relaxing and
reading in, and around the camp. Once it becomes cooler towards the
late afternoon we once again depart on a
game-drive, returning to camp after sunset for our second
night in the wilds. |
Day 03: |
A repeat of the previous days activities, allowing
a full day to observe and understand the surrounding wilds. By the
end of this day we will have explored the western part of Moremi in
great detail.
|
Day
04-06: |
Today we move our camp to the Khwai River area
in the eastern part of Moremi. Our daily schedules remain
the same, exploring and observing the animals in their natural
state. The large floodplains of this area provide good grasses for
various species of antelope, which are followed by
the predators. The Khwai River forms the northern
border of Moremi and this is where we will spend the majority of our
time game-driving.
|
Day
07: |
On this day after breakfast we depart Moremi Game Reserve for
Maun Airport, from where you will depart for Cape Town
via Johannesburg. Upon arrival at Cape Town, you will once
again be met by your Safari Guide, who will be entertaining you for
the following couple of days and nights.
Upon arrival at CPT Int. Airport, you will be met and
transferred to your hotel, in time for an evening meal and
a well-earned rest. Your guide will discuss with you the following
days activities, as well as other points of interest.
|
Day 08: |
This morning is a relaxed one, allowing time to adjust back into
society after the past six nights in the wildest of the African
Bush. Breakfast and general organising will be the aim of this
morning. Your guide will meet you after lunch and transfer transfer
you to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, which
has become the Western Capes premier entertainment and shopping
complex.
Being a harbour the ever-present boats and ships continue to add
to the fascination of the visitors and locals alike. The Waterfront
is largely sheltered by one of the worlds most striking natural
wonders - Table Mountain. We will leave the
Waterfront and enjoy a cable car ride to the summit of Table
Mountain (weather permitting), which at its highest point is 1086
metres above sea level. Sunset from the top of this
Massif, with unequalled views will end this day superbly. Late
afternoon return to your comfortable hotel. |
Day 09: |
Today will be a full days excursion where we will take a
scenic drive along the Cape Peninsula. Included in
todays excursion will be a short boat cruise to Seal Island to view
our large Cape Fur Seal Colony. At the tip of the
Cape Peninsula you will find Cape Point situated within the
Cape Peninsula National Park where we will transfer
to the lighthouse lookout by funicular or on foot for spectacular
views over the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
Lunch will be served en route at a local seafood restaurant.
After lunch we will visit Boulders Beach to view our resident
African Penguin colony. Dinner at a local
restaurant, followed by return transfer to your hotel for a good
nights rest.
|
Day 10: |
After breakfast we head out to the famous wine-land areas
of Stellenbosch and Franschoek, where we will explore and
observe the immensity of this area. You will be able to witness the
age old wine making process, and more importantly you will be able
to do various wine tastings. Lunch will be at one
of the many wine estates in the area. After a full day out, we will
return home, before our final dinner together on this, your last
evening of the tour.
|
Day 11: |
Depending on your International flight times, there might be some
time for final curio shopping, before your transfer to Cape Town
International Airport.
