Eco-Adventure International is pleased to announce our newest program: Accessible Costa Rica. We have been working for some time with several lodges and hotels in Cost Rica building a trip for persons with disabilities and are now pleased to announce the results.

Our trip begins in San Jose after our arrival at the modern and accessible airport. In the morning we are off to the Northeast and the rainforest! Our first stop is an Ariel tram were we will ascend into the canopy for a look at life high off the ground. Then we will spend three days exploring nature in this Sarapiqui area. Highlights include: several trips to La Selva Research Station were we will find 7km of paved paths that go deep into the jungle allowing us unprecedented access to the forest. We will also do a night walk were a whole new world will be reveled. In addition we will visit a Botanical Garden and a pre-Columbian burial site. Our lodge is not only accessible but boasts an accessible butterfly aviary and gardens!

From here we move to Arenal National Park, home to the most active volcano in Central America. Our lodge has accessible rooms and grounds including paved trails and a roll-in pool! Also each room has a huge picture window facing the volcano allowing us to lie in bed and watch for eruptions!

Enjoy the tranquility provided by the comforting sound of the cascading water emanating from the nearby waterfall found in our crystal clear pool, while treating yourself to a relaxing hydro-massage in the adjoining Jacuzzi.

We have a total of 17 room accommodations distributed as follows:

13 Standard Rooms including two Full sized beds
5 on the first floor made handicap accessible
8 on the second floor each with their own balcony overlooking the pool
2 Mini-Suites including one King sized bed, furnished living room, a small breakfast area and refrigerator.
2 Apartment Suites including 2 bedrooms, each with one Full sized bed and one Twin sized bed, air conditioning and cable TV, 2 bathrooms, furnished living room, dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.

ITINERARY

Day 01:	Arrive San Jose Pick up at the airport and transfer to hotel near airport , breakfast included. Disabled room. Transfer in regular vehicle. Client must be able to transfer. Guide will assist.
Day 02:	San Jose – Sarapiqui After breakfast we will travel to the Northeast of the country through the mountains into the lowland forest and farm country. Our first stop is the Ariel Tram just out of Braulio Carrillo National Park. Here we will take a ride into the forest on small tram cars that pass through all the levels of the forest. The tram is 2.6km long and each car holds five people and one guide. We will learn much about the tropical rainforest and experience it in a way not possible from the ground. We then move on to the Sarapiqui area. After checking in to our accessible lodge we will explore the grounds and surrounding gardens along accessible paths. Also we will visit the onsite butterfly farm and rearing facility. This accessible facility will introduce us to many of the species, which we will encounter in the forest latter. Butterflies of many colors and sizes dance around us in free flight as we learn about their natural history. Meals: B,L,D Clients have driver/guide and vehicle all day
Day 03:	La Selva After an early breakfast we travel a short distance to La Selva. This is a private research station based on 1600 hectares of land. More important for our purposes it has over 7km of accessible trails through the forest, most of them cement! Here we will immerse ourselves in the premontane rainforest. The biodiversity of the area will amaze. There are well over 400 species of birds, 120 species of mammals, and 1900 species of plants. Add to this the reptiles, amphibians and the thousands of species of insects and you can imagine why turning every corner on the trail is a new adventure! Our guides will point out the flora and fauna found on our trek along with explaining the research going on around us. (Please note that part of your tour payment goes to support this research and the scholarship program) We return to the lodge for a late lunch. The afternoon is free to wander the grounds or rest up for the evening ahead. In the evening we return to La Selva, arriving just before dusk. We then venture back into the forest for an unforgettable experience – a night walk. As darkness falls we will see a whole new world come to life in the forest. Many species inactive by day now are all around us. Once again our guides will bring the forest to life with their expert commentary. The conversation at dinner tonight will be most interesting! Day 04:	Rio Sardinal - Centro Neotropico Sarapiqui After Breakfast we will travel to the Center Neotropico Sarapiqui. This project is designed to introduce the visitor to both the culture and natural history of the rainforest. It is modeled after a 15th-century pre-Columbian village. Onsite is a Botanical Gardens with many species of native plants, edible flowers, fruits and vegetables. Also on site is one of the most important archeology sites in the country. Several years ago while digging a hole for a fence post the staff made an amazing discovery. Rocks that seemed not to belong there. The university of Costa Rica was called in and soon discovered a pre-Columbian burial site! Parts of this have been excavated and are open for viewing along with recreations of the ancient huts. The paths here are all gravel and a little ruff. However the land is flat and the facilities are all accessible. (Please note that part of your tour cost goes to support this center with such projects as rainforest protection through land acquisition and educational programs). Then we will continue to the Arenal area. This is where we have the Active Volcano and the activities can be heard and seen if weather permits. You will be staying in a disabled room with a direct view to the volcano. Meals: BLD Driver/guide returns to San Jose.
Day 05:	Arenal Free time to enjoy scenery. Tour may be available. Meals: B
Day 06:	Playa Hermosa Gulf Of Papagayo You will be picked up and transfer to the north pacific coast. Playa Hermosa Gulf Of Papagayo. You will be staying in a pool side area at the hotel , breakfast included . Beach front hotel and in town, so restaurants and shops are available all around. Driver/guide leaves after transfer. You can roll just about any place you want to in town. Meals: B
Day 07:	Arenal Free time to enjoy. Meals: B
Day 08:	San Jose You will be taken back to San Jose in the aftrenoon . Hampton inn and suites, breakfast included. Meals: B
Day 09:	Transfer Out Transfer to Airport for flight home. End of Services.
